Feeding Guidelines
Raw diets should be kept frozen until ready to use. Thaw the next day's portion in the refrigerator overnight (or for 4-6 hours) in a covered container; do not microwave. Some liquid when completely thawed is normal. Always have clean, fresh water available at mealtime. Optimal feeding amounts may vary with age, size, breed, and activity level.
Quick Reference: To maintain a healthy adult weight (pets over one-year-old), feed 2-3% of your pet's body weight, divided into two daily servings.
For example:
- Feed 4 ounces of Primal Raw (complete diets) for every 10 lbs of pet weight.
- For a 10 lb cat, that equals 5 Nuggets per day (when fed as a sole diet).
Transition slowly. Begin by mixing ¼ parts frozen raw to ¾ parts current diet. Gradually increase the amount of frozen raw daily.
Adult Cats: Divide total daily feeding portion into 2 meals.
Kittens and pregnant or lactating females: Divide total daily feeding portion into 3-4 meals.
